Fridge placement?

Looking at this plan now. :)

I am considering no upper cabinets on the sink wall. Debating on placement of the fridge. The cabinets on the range wall would go all the way down to the garage entrance opening.

1. On the range wall at the bottom.

This is nice because it keeps things open to the table area to the left of the kitchen. But it limits the size of fridge I could have and takes away storage space, which is valuable since I might not have uppers on the sink wall.

2. Place the fridge to the left of the kitchen between the table area and the island.

I like this because it gets the fridge closer to the table. I could put my blender tot he left of the sink and it would be near the fridge and prep sink. I would build a cubby space about 6' wide to make room for possible all in one fridge and all in one freezer but we wouldn't have to do that just yet if budget didn't allow.

Problem with option #2 is I don't know if I like blocking off the table area from the kitchen like that. Do you think it would look okay? I think we would have room for a 6' cubby for the fridge and then 3.5' of walkway on either side. I was wanting to put a swing door in that back wall going out to a future patio. That would be an awful tight squeeze to put a 3' door swinging into a 3.5' walkway. Would it help at all to make it 4' on that side and only 3' opening on the other side? Still, 4' is awful tight. I guess I could move that swing door to the left a little but it would still be into the table. Maybe I should just stick with sliding doors. I just don't like the look.

Also, if I put the fridge in that cubby between kitchen and dining, which way would look better? To have it go all the way to the ceiling or to have it just a foot or two above the fridge and be open over top? I imagine that would be a huge dust collector but I thought it might allow natural light throughout. The sink wall would face South and there would be 9' ceilings.

Anyway, wdyt?
