Tips for paint and hardware to upgrade desk?

Hi,

As someone who spends LOTS of hours at my desk at home, I decided it was finally time to get something beautiful, practical, and within my budget. Not possible! So in the end, I bought this plain desk with keyboard tray, file drawer, etc that I needed (Ethan Allen= practical) and want to make it look like this beauty (Ralph Lauren desk described as a "Napoleon III escritoire" = gorgeous). I plan on adding new hardware, ferrules, and silver leaf (or maybe silver paint) details.

The RL desk has antique silver hardware, which I cant find. Is polished chrome, polished nickel, satin chrome, brushed nickel, or old iron closest to an antique silver finish for the knobs?

I've silver leafed picture frames before, but never a detailed straight line, which will need to be done on the drawers at least. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do that?

Thanks in advance for any advice. It is much appreciated!

Best,
Writerly
