It's really cold tonight, colder than predicted.

Lows predicted to be about 40-42 late next week. That means the models are showing mid-thirties. If a calm, clear night happens, we will freeze. Hopefully it changes.

Scott. where are you seeing those lows. Nothing I have check says it will be that chilly.

Yeah, I left seedlings unprotected last night and it went down to 40 here. Just too many to move now and it wasn't supposed to go that low.

I imagine Scott probably is looking at some models like the NAM and the Euro at maybe 240 hours. I haven't had time to go look at them. I'll try to make time whenever rainfall arrives here and I'm stuck indoors for a while. If it happens, it happens, and there is not much we can do (except cover warm-season veggies, flowers and fruits with row cover) so I'm not going to worry until we get 3 or 4 days out from the expected arrival of the cold. A lot can change in 8 or 10 days weatherwise.

It did get cold last night. I was shocked when I looked at the OK Mesonet Minimum Temperature map and saw how cold it got early this morning. At our house it was a wonderful 21 degrees cooler this morning than yesterday morning (47 degrees today versus 68 yesterday) so I am a fairly happy camper. At least it won't be roasting hot today.....if our weather obeys and does what the forecast predicts. You know, sometimes the weather has a mind of its own and doesn't even come close to what is forecast. The overnight lows indicate the weather was "misbehaving" overnight.

Yikes! I noticed on the Mesonet map that parts of northern OK got surprisingly chilly and I figured someone had frost, Gary, but I figured it was the folks over in NW OK, and not necessarily in your location. I hope nothing was damaged by your frost.

My seedlings stayed out all night too , their first and it got down to 40. since I am so sick I couldn't bring them in they are going to have to toughen up.

Today was supposed be their first full day but they are all doing well.

I have been buying some plants, but I'm holding them against my south wall for now. I keep hearing the warnings in my head, "but we've had freezes later in April". My stuff that is always in ground and coming back up, they can tough it out, but the new ones, I'm holding those for now. I'm trying to get a little a head of myself....usually I wait too long and some things are gone!

Within an hour after my second post I found two sources that said the models were trending towards keeping the cold temps further north. It is looking good for nut crops in Oklahoma this year.
