We never thought about redoing our second bathroom until my husband had some health issues that made our master bath with a spa tub hard to use for showers. So we decided to redo the second bathroom. We live in a late 19th century townhouse but because the bathroom has no window I wanted it light and open. It is a small space but our contractor was able to gain some inches for the shower by moving the toilet. We added a steam shower for a luxury touch. I would suggest that anyone contemplating a bathroom renovation add some accessible features like a higher toilet and grab bars. You can still have an attractive room that is usable in case of illness or injury that can occur at any age.
