The approx. circumference of a table 54" in diameter is approx. 169.56. Divide that by 6 and you have approx. 28". So I would probably suggest a chair that is approx. 20"-24" max in width so the chairs don't look too crowded together. The table manufacturer many times will provide the maximum amount of seating the table allows as well.

Thanks so much. We have seen chairs that we like that are 23 inches wide... specifically we are looking at the Century furniture Omni collection chair 559-531. Originally we saw chairs that we liked that were 25.5 inches. and we realized that would look too crowded. I am hoping that 23 inches will not be too crowded.

Thanks so much... Yes the chairs look beautiful. We would have them done in mahogany. We don't really need all the chairs around the table all of the time. So, we could put one in a corner.

That's what we ended up doing too....we have a 60" round table with six 26" wide chairs (Jessica Charles 1947 Paloma). Having all 6 at the table for us felt too crowded. Part of the reason being that although the backs are rounded in, they are primarily square in shape and solid. So we have the 6th chair placed by the desk area in our breakfast nook area. Only bring it over to the table when company is over.

Oh, and the mahogany would be gorgeous on the Century chairs. Would love to see it when you have it put together with your table! Do you have a Century table also? Century makes some beautiful pieces....great quality too.

thanks so much. If we could have had a 60" table, we would have done so, but are room is not large enough. We are having a custom table made . It will be a sunburst design. The base actually looks like the century base for the omni round table. We will be able to extend our table to 98 inches. I will be very happy to send a picture. If we order the chairs, it will take about 10 weeks. So, I will not be able to send the pictures until the fall. I will look at the century credenzas. Our room is not that large. I was hoping to find a floating credenza that I could put on the wall, but it may be too heavy.
