what is "a garden" to you? Are you talking about growing vegetables, flowers for cuttings, or what?

Take a walk around your neighborhood and see what your neighbors are planting. Also rather than Texas Gardening it would be more helpful to look in Arizona gardening forum.

I had to learn new ways of gardening too...went from easy southern California to high desert AZ-what a huge difference! Make it very easy on yourself to check out business gardens as well as your neighbors. This will really help you decide what will look good as well as last. Check out the garden nurseries too and ask them too. I would wait to begin your new garden in the fall as planting in the summer heat is tough dealing with. Getting a plan of what garden shape, drip systems, etc and getting the soil ready for now. There are some wonderful informative online sites you can check into as well: highcountrygardens.com...same as americanmeadows.com-fantastic sites to check out for help. There used to be a couple of HC garden stores near you but they closed a couple years ago. American Meadows bought them out. Get their catalogs-they are very helpful. Good luck and have fun :)
