Kitchen redo. Floor colors?

Our current kitchen is beat. Time for new counter, cabinets, wall paint and flooring.

We picked "storm" black granite (black with white streaks), cabinetry to be painted, stainless appliances, and for the flooring we are opting for linoleum.
Linoleum is to be two colors. All colors need to be on light side (except counter). My wife asked if I could do an interesting pattern. I'm a woodworker so there is no limit to skill level. She mentioned waves. This is a 1942 colonial house with galley kitchen with the old maids quarters adjoined on one end of the kitchen. There is a large opening now where the door used to be to enter the maids quarter. In this area are a couple of chairs and a couple of ceiling height cabinets which hide the washer/dryer. One point I'm making is there is somewhat of a transition between the two areas so there lies the possibility of making the two rooms different, or you could make all the same.

I am also showing you the adjoining dining room and adjoining hallway which will emphasize the fact that we are not afraid of color. I am so sick of seeing tan and off white rooms in my life. We are located in Wilmimgton Delaware which is conservative for a little background.

Overall dims are 9' x 25' with the kitchen area taking up 14' of that length. 8' ceiling height.
