I'm in Sunset Zone 4 near Maple Valley and it would be iffy here. Are you close to Puget Sound?

"iffy"?? I don't think so - Mike, rock cress is a tough, very hardy little alpine plant, rated at least to zone 5 (USDA zones). And they are common offerings in spring at most retail nurseries and garden centers. Should grow easily for you in Maple Valley if given good drainage and plenty of sun.

I would say that they are a bit generous with the name 'Red Sensation'........it's not exactly what I'd consider "red" :-) And the coloring in the above photo seems to be much more on the violet end of the spectrum than most images indicate but flower colors often photograph somewhat variably.

I wasn't familiar with the variety blepharophylla so I looked it up. Sunset calls it California Rockcress and is only hardy in zones 5-6 15-17. I'm in Sunset zone 4.

Sunset is sometimes overly conservative in their zonal ratings :-) Most sources, including the A-Z Encyclopedia of Plants, rates that species and other common rock cress to USDA zone 5. Dave's Garden rates it to USDA zone 4a! Either way, I think you are pretty safe with it in Maple Valley.
