I was given this brome with no info. Billbergia 'Albertii'? B. 'Windii'? Any chance of getting an ID or should I be content with a no-name? That's a 12 inch orange ruler.
Eric - I think you can rule out your plant being Bill. ‘Windii’ as everything I've seen and read of this plant suggests it's helicoid (has petals slightly recoiled resembling a watch spring) although the flowers on your plant don’t appear to have this feature. (See pictures on the FCBS Photo Index No. 413)
The BCR describes Bill ‘Windii’ as: Small plant with rigid grey-green pointed leaves - pendulous inflorescence; whereas your plant is quite tall with an upright inflorescence.
As for Bill. ‘Albertii’, although it is registered on the BCR as a hybrid from a crossing between Bill distachia x Bill. nutans according to the literature on the same page it still seems the ID is not positive and its origin is uncertain.
