It took me a while to figure out why I don't care for this picture in this room...it's the green. For some reason all of those colors together remind me of my grandmother's couch under a microscope. I don't hate the artwork- just the green....Does she have something with just creams, grays and light blues?

The picture and the mirror are competing for my eye. Not sure if it's just me or if it is distracting for others.

Hmmm, that looks like wallpaper trying to be art. You could do wallpaper AND real art.

Littlemonkeys, that's what I was worried about! Do others think it's too many focal points? I know with design not everyone will like whatever I end up with...but your opinions help me.

I think that wallpaper would look great in your dining area on the beige wall. It needs some movement. But....I would change the light fixture to something more verticle, maybe with some sparkle. Still a statement piece though.

Something more understated with muted colors. I'd stick with abstract. Art is fine on that wall just not that particular piece.

Yes. Take your time and buy art because it is meaningful to you not because it has the right colors or fills the space. You have done a nice job so far-don't rush the finish!

But I just looked and think something not competing with mirror, etc. same color as wall and in line with your beach feel. To me it brings the lines of chairs/pendant into tropical windows look - jalousie/louvre windows?

No one is there and can say what looks 'right for you' and we know that. When I looked at your designer's pick I was reminded of sea creature glass art I saw in Florida - beautiful - does it strike you in person that way, as your beach wall??! Most houses have similar amounts on adjoining walls - doesn't distract me from here. Yes that wall with mirror is accented though... that's why that pick and mine I hope, didn't have so much wild pattern/color mix.

Her art is tall but not terribly - are your ceilings 8 or 9'?

Everdebz, I am in southwest FL and it is like sea creature glass art. Here's a better few pictues of it from a wider view. I have 30 days to make my decision. The colors are perfect for the rest of my house. Our ceilings are 10'. So we need something big. I hope these wider range photos help.

I think you have a good point...I will try it horizontally. Designer said to place vertical as it would be more dramatic. But I think I should try it the other way. I'll do that tomorrow and send more pix. Husband will love more nails in the wall

I think you should still go with the grass cloth wallpaper it will be lovely on it's own and perfect backdrop for any painting you choose. I found this lovely painting on Art.com and I think it ties in all your colors and even the frame ties in the wood tone of your furniture. I'm not sure what size you need though but it doe s come in various sizes. ( Click on picture to enlarge )

The scale on the photo Mark posted is much better on that wall. It's not just the colours (though that helps) it's also the size of the photo. It looks like it was meant to be there all along.

It's just to give you an idea, it's fairly expensive. But I think what I like about it is the colors of course but the frame really ties all your wood pieces together. This frame happens to be a brushed bronze. Here is the link

So the current picture is 48"x64"....the art.com largest size is 43"x43" framed. Do you think that's big enough? And it's A LOT less than the current picture, which was $1,800! I think that's what really bothers me about it...so much money and I'm not in love :)

Was that including the 3 inch frame too ? Take some painters tape and tape on the wall a square that measure 43x43 and see how it looks for size.

Including the frame I think it might be smaller than I would like too. Like you said you have a good idea of what you like now so when the right one comes along you will know.

Taped out area does look too small. If you can't find a nice big one like Mark posted, you might be able to do 3 in a row. One big one would be better though.

Hi! Go to greatbigcanvas.com and do a search for the artist of the painting Mark suggested (Silvia Vassileva). They offer a lot of her artwork and you may find another piece by her that you like. If not, they have a lot of size options on their canvasses so you may find another painting under the "coastal" or "beach" art categories.

i have a large colored pencil drawing on mcallistersgallery on etsy or google. you may like that one. it is framed in a antique frame with a 4 " hand painted mat.

go to etsy and you will be surprised at the talent on there.

Peppi reed, I will go to Etsy. I don't use it enough, but our daughter did much of her wedding from Etsy and it was beautiful!

Just a thought you could buy the print and have a frame center near you mat the print and then with the picture frame it could be 53x53 inches or even larger depending on what size of mat and frame you choose.

You just have to decide if you like it with matting around it. I think it looks really good. Just wanted to share this idea with you . See picture below .

Hi Mark et al, my husband liked the colors in the art you suggested, but didn't like that it was square. So went to zgallerie, one of my favorite stores, and found this! Very similar colors as what you suggested, lots of texture and metallic touches that tie in with light fixture, etc.. We both love it! Grass cloth is next year. Posted a picture and a close up of part of the art so you can see the texture and colors. I'll be back next year for help with the grass cloth. Everyone helped so much to move me in the right direction. I hope you approve, because we feel this one is a keeper! Only thing, should it be higher on the wall?

I think the art should be a little higher and if yo ucould get a frame around it it would really pop. This is so much better than the previous one that the designer had you bring home.

Agree little monkeys...thanks to all of you it's a much I proved choice. I'll move it up to be at the same height as the mirror, it's a few inches lower than the mirror now.
