we'll have a bar in the basement

Upstairs in our media/game room. Definitely gets used a lot - especially on game days :)

In our former house we had a wet bar we added to our lower level family room. We did it in a simple farmhouse style: simple farmhouse style wetbar

When we were looking to purchase our new home one of the items we did not want in a home was a wet bar, if there was one the house was eliminated immediately from a viewing.

We had one in a former home and we never used it...only during a party or get together with a large group (not that often).

My husband insisted on a wet bar in the finished basement when we built our current house, and it's only been used to store bar glassware and booze cuz we almost never use the basement rec room (it's beautiful, but being empty-nesters who rarely entertain, we have no need for the space). Now that we're building a new house, hubby is again insisting on a wet bar in the basement...it might get some use when the kids make their annual holiday visit, but mostly hubby will just continue to run downstairs to fix himself a cocktail that he'll then bring upstairs just so he can tell me, "I use the bar!". At least he gets some exercise with each cocktail... ;)

We have one in the butler's pantry right off the kitchen & deck at one end and the barn at the other end. We use the barn for large parties in warm weather seasons.
