Spring Bulb Peak

Fair Weather Blooms

I tend a hospital bed, and right now is peak spring bulb
bloom. Temps have been mild, with a number of overcast days--ideal
spring weather to my mind. The budget here is low, so there is a
potpourri of bulbs that are
recurrent from previous years; planting a new design each year is not in
the picture. But the mix of colors can be dazzling.

Tulip Beauty of Spring was one new one this year.

Yellow tulip Big Smile is quite recurrent.

Daffodil Sentinel is surrounded by some straggler Red Impression.

A graveyard is across the street.

Pink and Salmon Impression among some fragments of Negrita. The pink ones are favorites among thieves.

Those are lovely.What do you put in after the bulbs? But who built a hospital across the road from the cemetery? :-(

There are all sorts of perennials coming up among the bulbs: daylilies, rudbeckia, aquilegia, iris, larkspur, lilium, echinacea. Simple things.

Mantis, that combination sounds lovely. I enjoy seeing gardens change through the season. Please post a picture when the other plants get going as well. Judging from your Spring bulbs, I bet it is phenomenal.

Mantis, your bed looks wonderful! how do you plant the bulbs among the perennials? What is proper spacing? Your bed looks full and nice. When you say thieving, do they steal the flowers or the bulbs?

Beautiful planting. I don't always like mixed colors but I think yours look fantastic. Maybe because you have enough clumps of single colors that it shows off so well.

How do you feel about the thievery? I used to do a public garden and liked to think that the picked flowers ended up bringing a lot of joy to someone's day. That's what I told myself at least, and as long as the plants weren't harmed I didn't mind a few beheadings.
