That is pretty. It is difficult to ID a plant without more information. Post a picture of the plant with leaves. State where you obtained the plant. Any and all information is helpful.

I need to follow my own advice :)

I don't really care about finding the ID on this one... I'm nearly certain it's an Optimara, and that's enough for me! :-) I'm not even sure I'll keep it... I may gift it.

But since you asked, I'd like to hear your thoughts! This is from a leaf that was plucked from one of my MIL's plants. Like I said, It is most likely an Optimara.. since that's all that is available to us here unless we mail order, and she has never done a mail order. She does know a lady who has given her a few different violets... and one of them doesn't look like an optimara to me. It's a semi trailer and is more delicate looking than most optimaras. So it's possible that this isn't an optimara... but it most likely is. :-) It's sitting on a Puffs tissue so you can see how big it is.

Here's two better pics that were taken a week or so ago with my camera not my phone. Big difference in picture quality! :-)

    Optimara Maine?

thats what i thought too... but i have been living in denial cause i just got opt. maine in a trade! :]

I once bought an Opt Maine directly from SG. It did not bloom much like the photo on their page, it had a lot of white. I gave it to someone who favors whites. So the two plants might bloom differently. Joanne

I need some help with Optimara ID's. If anyone has any helpful ideas??? All of these came from Meijer so they are Optimaras. Tried looking them up myself and just got too confused. Rosie

2 toned, color in photo is pretty true.

Very pretty blue, no purple in it.

This pix should be much darker and with hardly any white.

This is just plain deep dark purple

Pretty pink with small raspberry ruffled edge.

    Any help out there??? Thanks!

Hmm, these are puzzling. You said they are Optimara so I assume there was an Optimara sticker of some kind? I ask because I'm not far from you in Indiana and our Meijers carries Anthofloras varieties. I have seen their labels in violet pots on various occasions. I'm not saying Meijers doesn't carry Optimara also. I just don't have any guesses on them.

Beautiful blooms! Here's my guesses... but Its hard to tell unless you're holding the plant in your hand! :-)

    1. Optimara Candy?

    2. Optimara Manitoba?

    3. Optimara Andrea?

    4. Optimara Evelyn or Optimara South Dakota?

    5. Optimara Louisiana II or Optimara Teresa?

Terri, No, there are not any stickers or anything else on them. (once again,,,,it makes its own case for labeling somehow!!!) I just have always been under the impression my Meijer carried Optimara. I have positively identified more than several of my violets thru the O. site. It never occurred to me that they may also carry Anthoflores. I did ask the lady stocking them today and she said she didn't know. Well, seems to me all she had to do was look on the boxes they came in that were broken down and stacked up in the aisle! I am sure they had some sort of writing on the boxes!! I didn't want to make an issue about it.

I will see if there may be a match with Anthoflores! Thanks!!!

Su, I will check the site you listed also. Thanks for the suggestions of what you think they may be! Thanks!!! Rosie

I do know that your No.5 is not Teressa as I have grown this variety & it does not look like the labeled one I had. Also, Teressa is a star bloom & this one looks like a pansy to me.

Rosie, keep us updated on what you find! ;-)

Yep, I will and I have 2 more pix to post!!!! Rosie

    sweet! bring em on. :)

Hey everybody--I am havin' a great morning! It rained all day yesterday <:( {no yard work}, BUT that gave me more time to play with my plants! The two new plants I got (see pix!) were divided. There were several suckers {but they were unrooted}, and lots of leaves. I am trying to plant all of them just so they don't die and I won't throw them away, someone will want them eventually,,,,,any takers???? Let me know,,,,again NOID's from Meijers, so that means Optimara or possibly Anthoflores???

I am very close to running out of tags so I ordered more, but in the meantime, I dug really deep in my box of plant stuff looking for more and you will never guess what I found! I found my tag from my very first (what would be now a vintage) Firebird that I bought way, way, way back! I am going to use it when I get a vintage one again. Still looking. AND I found several little tags from Optimara miniatures that Lowe's had gotten in and I bought several. That was a lot of years ago (when Opt. still tagged stuff!) Those tags are so little and so cute! I will take a pix and post it later, along with my Firebird tag. Ahhh the memories!

I have received a leaf of Seafoam, but still looking for my vintage Firebird.

And that darn Lowes just is not getting violets in. That was a staple last year! Not that people really bought them,,,,alot of them ended up clearanced for $1.00. If they would get more of a variety and not 10 each of 3 colors I could buy more!!!! lol Walmart has been a bust also.

Haven't had a chance to look up the other NOID's to find names yet. Now I have these NOIDS's to look up. lol Oh but aren't they pretty?

Are these flowers what they call "thumbprints"?

Pix #1 Color came out pretty good on this one.

Pix #2 Color is a very rich purple magenta! Pretty much like the photo only just a tad more red!!!!

These two are the ones I just tore apart, if anyone should want some!?!?!?!?

If it doesn't rain today I hope to get in the yard, but it is not looking good just yet. Haven't seen the weather report,,,,.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone! Everyone has a mother and everybody "mother's" something or someone in their own way so,,,,,,,,,.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rosie

    Yup raining here too!

Thanks for the Happy Mothers day wish! To you too! So does this mean we can each buy a flower to celebrate Mother's Day? ;-)

Good luck findin' Firebird... have you looked at places like FancyBloomers, BloomLovers, BluebirdGreenhouses?

I have a small wishlist also... but I can order them from Bluebird Greenhouses and from Lyndon Lyon.. but I am kinda dragging my feet about spending another $40... since I've already put down ENOUGH leaves from trades and orders this spring. *blush* 70 varieties is a little much, really. But there are those FEW that people didn't have to trade... so I'm kinda stuck. Oh well. I can save it for this fall, and by then my list will be twice as big. :-P

    Could your two noids be

    Opt. Chagal/Sami & Opt. DaVinci/Deborah?

Well about the ID's My money is on Optimara Chagall and DaVinci but what does anyone else think??? Rosie

    Rosie,

I Would love to adopt from your Optimara collection I also have been hunting for different violets. Lowes and Walmart have not received any. The ones I have found are at the local grocery store and looked very healthy. I bought one of every color they had, which was a total of seven not bad for$20 and instant gratification. These are to keep me motivated.. I set out to become debt free and so will not place a order for named varieties until then. Looks like it might be a couple years. so until then Optimaira from the grocer me.

Rosie, I have one of the #5 plants too with no id. I don't think it is either Louisiana II or Theresa. I will start searching also but if you figure it out please shoot me a message.

Hi Pam! I am sure that my #5 is Optimara Rhapsodie Michele. Theresa and Louisiana ll do not have the raspberry ruffled edge. And my Meijer carries Optimara most of the time so that is what I am going to call her. Rosie

Rosie, that would be great' I would love to try a few more leaves of Optimara, can't wait. I have been off for a few days while at work and then the internet was down for about 48 hours so just saw the offer of extra leaves.

I can also trade leaves that I have.

Most of my violets are NOIDS, but I do have pix in my Ideabook Stuff to Trade. Do you have pixs of yours? Would love to see them! You can private message me if you want! Rosie

Julia If you want to PM me I can also send you optmara leaves.
