I have carpenter bees (and wasps but I can't find the nest yet). I see some places the carpenter bees are going but scared to know whats UNDER the deck! Anyway, we sprayed the holes with insecticide. Bees fell out (three so far). Questions:

1) I understand male bees go in and feed the queen. We think these are what's coming out. So how many males go around a female?

2) How do we know if we killed the queen?

3) If we plug the holes and the queen is alive in there, will she die in there or dig her way out?

4) I heard August is when bees hatch. Can the larva/eggs or whatever live without the queen? Will they hatch and dig themselves out in August?

5) Finally, how can we make our sitting area less enticing to these Carpenter Bees?

I've gotta go on a different forum but I got wasps and can't find their nest and also I have flies like mad. I'm looking for ideas how to make my deck a place to use. I haven't really used it for the past 5 years since it's built because I got so many bugs all the time!
