What do you mean by mesh? If it's what we have over here in the UK it won't look pretty.

Can you not erect your own more solid fence on your side of the boundary line?

Im Sorry for Not Writing it very Clear. My Neighbor has the split rail, mesh fence. I don't want to even look at this Fence. I just want some type of privacy for my family.

Forsythia grows quickly! It's affordable. Even when it drops its leaves the tangle of branches keeps privacy.

I could put up my own Fence, but What would look decent for ME as well as look half way decent for my neighbor since they will be looking right at two fences. I kinda want to be courteous and Not just put up a White privacy fence that would look Ugly from her side. I hope I explained a little better.~Jan

I commend you for thinking of your neighbor. If putting up your own fence is not the route you want to go, I think your only option is a green fence. Go to your garden center (not a Home Depot or Lowes - a local nursery would be best) and ask them for advise and what plants would be appropriate for your climate. Good luck.

HI -- Your not going to get the height you need just having a mesh or growing something on that rail fence . Plant a close set row of columnar cedars or trees along the fence line on your side and then have some pergola garden structures built in front ... like the example Darzy gave you.

You could do Rose of Sharon. I'm attatching a picture of our old place. The first is in spring and it does still give some coverage. It has gorgeous blooms in summer that last quite a long time and the second picture is what it looks like in the fall. The yellow shrub is a forsythia that was prune like that. The 1st picture was shortly after we moved in the second was a few years later. There was an apple tree, pear tree, raspberries and tomatoes too so is a little jungle like in that photo. We were getting ready to do an overhaul of it. You can see just how much coverage they give and if you don't prune them they grow very tall.
