Kitchen island color

My kitchen is black counters with white cabinets , tan backsplash and a multi colored floor . Eventually it's all going to go especially the backsplash and cabinets but in the meantime, I'm extending my island and wanted to change the color from white to another color and just can't decide... So I turn to Houzz for professional opinions. First pic is my kitchen island, floor and backsplash. Then the living room for idea on colors I like. I would REALLY love some ideas /suggestions : )

I think your island extension looks great. I would not paint it. I think you should consider changing the backsplash. White subway tiles would make a big difference.

Maybe a darker shade of the LR wall color - something from the same color strip card.

I'm not sure if I should add any color. Will any color compete with the multicolored floor? Ugh-I am so stuck! I want to keep the room, light, airy and clean but....!?

Any of the colors in the floor would look nice. Get paint swatches of all the colors you like that are in the floor, match them to the floor and choose 2 or 3 to test. Buy samples along with either poster boards or small pieces of sheetrock so you can move them around the room.

For a more dramatic look go a couple of shades darker, and for a lighter look go a couple of shades lighter.

Okay so you guys are thinking colors from the floor. I was trying to keep it light/beach-y feeling so I did grey screen on the walls. If I pull a darker blue from floor, do u think it will loose the open air concept? Or too many colors in the room? I'm sorry. Ugh!

I think a dark to medium grey would compliment all that you have going. Have you decided on cabinets yet? Perhaps a weathered wood finish or at least a grey wash. I'd keep it light and simple for a beachy look and you seem to be on the right track. Good luck!

Hi Craig. Thank you for your input. Do you think these are too dark then? Any reco's on the color? My walls are below...looks more blue in my kitchen. Are you thinking darker since this is pretty light??

I'd also consider a light grey painted cabinetry for the kitchen and wrapping the island in an actual reclaimed barn wood in soft grey and perhaps repeat it on an accent wall.

Hello all! I'm just wanted to update you.
I ended up just keeping it white for now since I couldn't decide. My floor color made it quite challenging. I just extended the island, added legs and new chairs.
