I think you may be able to work with the rocks with the right paint color(s). If the rock still doesn't look right, I think painting the faux rock(s) , but leave the "grout" lines for depth. I think a white-ish color always looks nice with adobe/Spanish style homes.

The bamboo shade "fence" is really taking away from the pretty architecture. I hope you are going to remove that.

You could choose a new stone veneer to go over the old faux stone. This would allow you to update it with something you like the look/color and style of, without the hassle of removing it. Stone veneer can usually go right over the existing surface which saves time and money.
