help identifying clematis

hi friends,

My mother in law grows this clematis in her yard which I love. She does not know what it is and neither do I. I grow Jackmanii which looks similar but not the same as this. This one has a bit of a metallic sheen look. I know the picture is not great but I'm going crazy not knowing what this clematis is as I want to buy a plant for my garden. I've narrowed it down to possibly: Jackmanii (and I might have a mislabeled plant), Etoile Violette, Polish Spirit?

Thanks!

Mas

I doubt it's either 'Etoile Violette' or 'Polish Spirit' - both of these are late season clematis (pruning group 3) that usually don't start blooming until midsummer. In full bloom in April would be pretty unusual.

It could very well be 'Jackmanii' or 'Jackmanii Superba'. While this is also a group 3 clem, it has one of the longest bloom cycles and can start blooming quite early - late spring as opposed to midsummer.
