Photo gallery between 2 windows

Hi I want to make a photo collage above my couch in between 2 windows. Is it ok if they don't all have the same color frame? do they need mats? its about 4 feet in between, is that enough?

Just did a quick google search on gallery walls and one comment was one for you....different frames/color of frames, lend a casual feel to the room. Matching ones are for formal spaces.

Who are you trying to please? Yourself and your family or the phantom design police? Go with what looks right to you. Tweak it until you like how it looks. Use blue painters tape to tape out where your pictures are going to go so you don't have to put holes in the wall until you've got it the way you want it. And if you decide it isn't right down the road, tweak it until you're happy with it.

I'm basically trying to figure out what usually looks good without having to go out and buy the wrong stuff, although maybe the phantom design police should be giving me advice as he can see my house.

How many photos are you working with? Are they all the same size or how much do they vary in size?

I just completed a gallery in a hallway. I thought I would use different, cool frames. At the last minute, I went with all black frames and white matting. So glad I did. The photos pop out. Whatever you decide, have fun with it! Good luck!

every size from 4 by 7 to big ones like 14 by 20 (about)

My living room is painted light blue with navy/brown tweedy couches. would it look nice to use a bunch of different color and styles of frames?

I know the styles being different will be just fine. When you say different color, what do you mean? Black? Gold? Oak? That sort of thing?

I meant colors. I have some of them framed already in a few different colors, one in oak, one in black, gold, silver, different shades of brown wood....
