Correction to my inquiry. It is limited to a 5' span opening with the existing header.

Thank you for your inquiry about our project. This is not a Cliff May home, although after the remodel it does have some Cliff May-like elements in it. That being said, we did add steel beams above all of the openings you see in this photo. We installed them as high as possible to allow enough head room for the door openings. In order to both preserve the open beam aesthetic of the ceiling in the grand room and achieve the structural support required, we used smaller steel beams instead of larger wood beams.
