Question about Hypertufa planters in winter.

I am thinking of making some Hypertufa planters for my patio garden and I was wondering how well it insulates the plants roots against the cold. I know that based on material some planters need to be brought in for winter and some don't. Does Hypertufa need to come inside?

It really depends on the plant you pick for the container. Not sure hypertufa insulates better than any other container. Here is an easy to follow guideline. Select plants that are tolerant of one zone lower than your planting zone. So if you are zone 6, try not to plant a zone 6 plant in the container, plant a zone 5 (or lower) tolerant plant. There are exceptions to this rule,

but this has worked for me. Also well drained soil helps. Do a search on Al Gritty Mix.
