I love the gray look. I think it would be distinctive and beautiful. Nice project!
I prefer the "Pantry & Baking Center" look more than the other.

I would be cautious with the cabinet colour. If you follow a trend, you may quickly get tired of it. I would use a warm, creamy white for the cabinets, and add the drama with the backsplash and paint colour. Beautiful cabinetry by the way.

I agree with Carmen, grey is exploding in popularity right now (too fast to last in my opinion) as everyone seems to be embracing it and every post I see asking for advice all the answers are always "paint it grey" but grey is not really a happy color and it is not always a neutral so I am sure at some point there will be a grey backlash and it will become dated like pickled oak cabinets and verde light fixtures from back in the day....walls can be easily painted but cabinets are major work to paint again later

I'm agreeing with you.... I think I'll just go with a white or white w/ glaze on the cabinets, warm color brick, a warm brown tone on the walls, and a cream or brown granite. Do you think I should mix woods ? Stained island and stained (or faux metal) vent hood ? Or is that just trending right now too ?

I feel it is trending now and you may regret it later. :)

I think the kitchen will look great with this type of color scheme (but with granite counters - my kids would murder wood counter tops, don't you think ?). Now.... just making it work.... Thank you ! We r going to remodel and plan to do just an island surfaced with butcher block. I want to bang it up some and give it a patina and a good coat of poly on top for durability...then if it get trashed we can re-do it...I don't think I would do the entire kitchen in wood either, but I do like that mixed in! Nice place and it will be gorgeous-congrats!

Oh, and to answer the question.... the cabinets were custom made by a local cabinet guy. But, I feel sure that they are simple enough any good cabinet maker could re-create them.
