Replacing ceiling fixture with recessed light: help

Hello,

I have currently a light fixture in the ceiling over the sink. The bulb used is a Halopar 16 35W. The ceiling is about 8' high and the light of the Halopar is good enough as a task light. We would like to have recessed light instead now that we are repairing the ceiling. However we do not have space for a 6.5" can for recessed light. I would like to go with a recessed solution wide less than 4" but I need a shallow can? Solutions?

Thanks

I assume that you mean 6.5" vertical? How much room DO you have? Does it need to be IC rated?

All my cans in the house are IC rated. Yes it is 6.5" vertical. Currently I have a Halopar only 35W and works ok but I do not see any can that would work with Halopar. I really like a recessed solution.

There are shallow cans that are 5" in height. For example

Shallow Can Home Depot

Alternately, you could use a surface mount disk light like the Glimpse.

I'm not seeing the problem. Any standard 4" ICAT housing should be less than 6.5".

I need to know exactly how much room you DO have in the ceiling in order to know what will fit :-/

How about 2 spots?

There is no space for recessed light at all. I need a small Halopar fixture. not easy to find a small task light, not recessed. Tx

mimipadv, not sure I understand your question. I am looking for a light that would be above the sink. Task or spot would be ok as far as it is not recessed and powerful enough to light my activities at the sink. Sorry if I was not clear
