Free desert trees from SRP

This is a Maricopa County only program, I think.

Salt River Project Shade Tree Program in Arizona is providing up to 3
desert adapted trees for homes built before 1980 and up to 2 for all other
homes. You must meet the qualifications and attend a SRP Shade Tree Workshop
to get your trees, which come in 5 gal containers and are up to 6 footers in
height.

Varieties are Native Mesquite, Thornless Mesquite, Palo
Verde, Thornless Palo Verde, Desert Willow, and the Australian Willow Acacia.

Workshops:

Saturday May 9, 2015 at the Desert West Community Center in
Phoenix

Saturday June 6, 2015 at the Desert Botanical Garden in
Phoenix, and

Saturday July 18, 2015 at Chandler-Gilbert Community College
in Mesa

You must be a homeowner of a single family residence to
qualify. Trees will be available after the heat breaks. APS has a similar
program but it has been suspended for the rest of 2015. For more information,

Attended the first session Gilbert. Packed room, trees look good. Not as easy as we thought to find places to plant them. Information was very useful, and a good reminder if you've seen/heard it before. Plan to wait a while afterward to pick up your tree(s), it's efficient, yet takes time.

We live in Mojave County (Lake Havasu City) is there anywhere we can get free trees? We are redoing our mostly gravel back yard because my Standard Poodle puppy likes to eat rocks. He just had surgery to remove one that was wedged in his colon. We want to plant at least one shade tree and I love the Mesquete trees. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

In Tucson and in Maricopa County it looks like the water departments do tree promotions. LHC "sells" ownership to municipal trees with a nice expensive brass plaque. I'd go right to the top and ask there:
