Our Beach House

We just purchased a fixer upper on the Chesapeake Bay. We would like some help redecorating the room that overlooks the Bay. Our thoughts was pale blue paint on the walls, with a trellis design blue and white carpet (has to be wall to wall). White couches with colorful pillows. We want something that is fresh and comfortable. Eventually we would like to knock down the far wall, facing the bay, and replace the windows with sliding glass windows. Right now we want to make some simple cosmetic changes with a fresh coat of paint, some new furniture and carpet. Any suggestions would be SO appreciated!! Thank you!

Wow! what a great view! Congratulations on your new home!

I like the idea of a very soft light blue/gray for the walls to just flow with the view beyond...

I there a reason that you would need to do carpet instead of a different flooring? I'd prefer laminate flooring. It is very durable, cost friendly, if you want, you can install it yourself, and it looks great. We've installed it in 2 of our homes. Here is a post I wrote on my decorating blog about it: Laminate Flooring tips

    Hope that helps. Liz www.HometoCottage.com

its an awfully lot of square footage for a single color of carpeting. if you must have carpeting to start, at least do different area rugs on top defining your sitting and eating areas.

I like the idea of laminate flooring, especially since kids and dogs will track in a lot of sand and water. I thought carpet only due to expense, but laminate and area rugs may be the better option. Any thoughts for a good paint color? This is fun!

paint is the last thing you choose. after flooring comes furniture after furniture comes area rugs and the last thing is paint. because there are a million colors of paint, but not so many colors of furniture or rugs.
