What are the new growth buds doing now, have they opened or still in the process. Repotting or moving during active growth is usually discouraged - it would have been fine before bloom, or even during bloom and while they aren't overly fussy it might be best to wait a bit if all leaf buds have not opened and it is actively putting out its growth for the year.

Move it into a wider pot, it doesn't necessarily have to be a significantly deeper container. 'No' to not roughing up the rootball - please make a running cut every few inches down the entire sides of the rootball all the way around to open up that fine network of roots and allow it to establish out into your new potting medium.
