I like the purchased chairs as well..... same as above. I would change out your desk chair though. It doesn't quite work.

They'll work! When you get a table to go between them it should come to within 1" of the arm height. Adjust them and the rug enough so that their front feet are on it and they won't seem to be so stranded. Agree you need to add a pop of color. Maybe drapes would be the place to kick start the color injection.

Great chairs, you can integrate them by sharing cushions with the sofa. Put on the chairs the cushions you think go with the couch and vice versa. Add only a small round table between the two chairs. Nothing else is needed in the room. Such a table is a great chance for adding whimsy and a touch of the feminine to the room.

On the wall behind, add four large silver frames with large black and white family pictures.

The one thing that I find jarring is the carpet. Consider a pattern that adds color to the room and from it you can add accents such as cushions.

I think the room is beautiful, and I love the chairs. You can easily add color/pattern/texture with throw pillows, art and drapes. Deco's pic is a good example. Good luck! Please post final results! :)

Chairs are lovely! Yes, I feel that once you add the tables and art it will be super! The rug is great too. A pop of brighter colors will be fabulous too! Would love to see finished pics.

It is all gorgeous, right down to the rug! I agree that your desk chair needs to go, and that you definitely need a pop of bright yellow. However, can't possibly agree on having drapes. The room doesn't need them and you don't either.

Love the chairs, they are beautiful. I agree on the color scheme of gray and yellow, add a couple of bright color pillows and a throw on the sectional may work. The room is gray on gray, it looks like it needs something bright and metallic on the wall behind the chair, I would hang a good size mirror there. Putting a small end table between the chairs is not only functional but also give a more complete look.

Love the room! The chairs look great... you don't want everything too matchy like you bought the furniture set complete from the furniture store. Definitely pop with pillows and drapes make them the same, or pattern/colors similar. Yellow and grey are awesome, it can be a pale yellow to match the subtleness of the other features and a pinch of pale pink, bingo! (I actually have seen these colors together...post a photo when you are done! Nice job...accessorize with the accent color you end up choosing in different shades though, on the shelves, low on the mantle, etc. katywernerpaints.com

Have you tried the chairs flat against the wall as opposed to angled, even though I know they’re not hugely angled, it may make a difference. Also slide them slightly towards built-ins and add a round table in between. The built-ins contents could use some editing- all of the contents appear to be about the same size. Change the scale of some of the items to larger and add a bit of color.

Felix's idea of large black and white family photos in silver frames behind the chars is a great idea. Go for it!

And I agree with Adalisa regarding the built-ins contents. Use her suggested method for edits and it could be a fun task to redo that area.

I agree with the thumbs up for the chairs...they're snazzy..lol. LOVE that rug! Seriously interesting. A tall back parsons type chair would be better at the desk area, maybe in an interesting stripe incorporating the colors in the room, plus something that pops some color. I'm personally over the grey/yellow combo, but something that grabs the eye like a red, grey, cream and brown stripe. Pull the red out with small bolsters on the chairs and perhaps the sofa too. The chairs, I would put them straight up next to each other, front feet at edge of carpet and a tad closer to the wall unit and get a little table in between them, perhaps cream or white in color to match the built ins. Think about a large clock or mirror behind the chairs. I think the room is very nice and inviting, and very little tweaking would do wonders~

I think the chairs are great and definitely not too tall. I would also try them straight and not angled as well as adjusting the rug so the front feet of the chairs are on it.

Your chairs are fine, they go nicely with your sectional. I would either use all black, or all silver photo frames, even for those in the bookcase. It will keep the modern look. You might Paint the back wall inside the bookcases, something that compliments your room using a color that will show case the items I them. One that perhaps ties in the decorative pillows, and or throw you choose. Or paint first, then buy pillows etc. there are many colors that go well with gray. Since you have a modern style going keep it on the bright side, but not where it is a stark contrast, and don't let yourself go too blah either. (It's only paint and can be changed anytime) Get small containers of test colors ( I suggest picking 3at a time, eliminate down to the one you like, then do it again with 3 others, until you have a final 3 to choose from. Remember though paint samples wont be the same if you don't prime over the gray first) if you want to go real mod you could use 3 different colors that compliment each other, or one color used in a random way, keeping some the gray. Incorporate a little color here and there in your bookcase decor too. Anyway, I painted the back of my bookcases ( one color) and it makes a huge difference. If you don't find that you use the two chairs to watch TV you could face them and put a table ( maybe slightly higher than a regular end table, and definitely with an open bottom; ie; like you wld see in a nice lounge) between them. A little conversation setting and you can always turn them and pull them away from the wall when needed. Hang a nice size large art piece above the sofa ( size to the scale of sofa) and bring some much needed color I with that. Get a desk chair that is a color or pattern, unconventional for an unexpected wow. Don't be afraid of color, it can make the difference between a cold room and a cozy room that you are trying to achieve. : )
