The use of wound dressing on pruning has largely fallen out of favor after research showed that in general it does not help a plant heal and, in fact, may interfere in proper healing. The only instance I know of in which the use of wound dressings is consistently recommended is when pruning oak trees. In that case, you use the wound dressing as part of your program to prevent the spread of the deadly oak wilt. So, I'd leave the cuts alone and let them heal naturally.
