Its hilarious. I was watching a renovation show that was picking out cabinets. They were asking a designer about the 'white cabinet' trend and if is was ending anytime soon. She was sick of it and was showing off-white cabinets ( that were nice) and said visible paint brush strokes are now the new thing.
So funny partly because I've spent years finishing my own cabinets by brush, trying to hide that fact.

White is still going strong and if finished properly can hold up very well. It's all in the prep.

We are not planning painting the cabinets ourselves. So I would hope they would be prepped properly when going through a custom cabinetry shop. However, HOW well will they hold up is my big question. No chips in the paint ever? A couple chips after 5 years? 10 years? I'm not concerned about it going out of style as much as I am concerned with them looking like junk down the road because of the paint chipping off.

I have had white kitchen for 15-20 years. Had kids and dog. I added a pantry about 5 years after the original cabinets went in and you could not tell the new from original. They held up great.

Like any cupboards you will get a bit of patina around the handles.

...and I love the bright space.

Adding to my last comment. My long lasting white cabinets were factory painted.

We have had white cabinets in our current house for the last 20 years and have liked them so much that we are having white cabinets installed in our new house (that we are currently building).
