I have a 15'x20' family room with a vaulted ceiling but it has a fairly shallow pitched ceiling from one side of the home where the fire place is. There is a set of rear stairs that goes straight down to the corner of the room on the opposite wall from the fire place. I would like to put a ceiling over the family room, probably 9' and utilize the space above. With the 3' of stairs and landing it would make the available space above 18'x 20'. any ideas for how to use that space for an upstairs laundry, 5th bedroom and 3rd bathroom.
