Pantry Beautification Complete!

I have no idea how SunnyCottage painted her whole kitchen so fast. This little pantry took forever! But it's done, it was cheap, huge improvement and I couldn't be happier.

So when we built the house, the pantry was always meant to have a base cabinet but it didn't happen during the build. So the shelves were put in with space to allow for the cabinet. It's not shown in the before picture, but we had a free standing wire shelf under the built-in shelves. It looked terrible but was functional. Here's the before pic:

DH beefed up the shelves with a piece of trim and we purchased a cheap unfinished oak cabinet from Lowes. We had leftover tile from our laundry room reno and that's what we used for the counter top in the pantry.

The pantry is 5x7 (cabinet on the 5ft wall). Travertine tile, SW Oyster White on the walls and shelves (but different sheens), SW Brainstorm Bronze on the cabinet (thanks Aktillery9 for using it and Jlc712 for suggested it!), pulls and knobs with antique copper finish were left overs from kitchen. DH and I did everything ourselves, all told I think we spent about $350. DH wants to do under cab lighting but I think I'm done!

That looks great! I would love to have a nook like that to hide countertop appliances, especially the messy nespresso machine.

That's great. We did the same kind of "beefy" trim in our linen closet and it looks so much more professional and "finished". Excellent job!

Niiiiice! I would be leaving the pantry door open on purpose.
Pantry and Laundry Room are my favorite rooms to decorate; I guess because I am lacking in decorating skills and these are small and easily decorated rooms.

Thanks everyone! I'm really enjoying the glass jars. Everything is so accessible and it's easy to see what needs replenishing.

Sjhockey, that little piece of trim really adds so much.

Mustangs, we do seem to have a door closing problem around here. The pantry door is always open except when I remember to close it for guests. Now I think I want guests to see it!

I would love a counter/base cabinet in the pantry like yours, good job.
To give me more storage for pantry items, I put cabinets in the laundry room.

    I
found 3 cabinets at Lowe's clearance area THAT MATCHED my laundry room
cabinets for $33 each. The other side of the far end wall is a vacant
area of the garage. So I had my BIL push out the wall and install the 3
Lowe's cabinets thus providing extra pantry storage.

Tricky painting job, with all those corners/angles....much more difficult to paint those small spaces. I love the cabinetry color and have the same hardware in my kitchen (which I love). Very, very nice job! Kudos to you and your DH for this nice transformation!

That looks really wonderful. I love the tile and color combinations. I love those glass jars and I'm feeling inspired to make my pantry pretty now. :) The beefed up shelves make a big visual impact too! I think I'd leave the door open to admire.
