Happy Monday to all I'm happy to say that my HF Young is doing quite well. So well that I just have to have another clematis. I saw a Dr. Ruppel yesterday and I really like it. The thing is I'm not sure how much shade these plants can handle.

The front of our home faces North. The front porch (center of the house) has lattice on the front. Directly in front of the lattice are about 5 azaleas. If you're facing the house from the street, the left corner is empty. There's lattice on that side of the porch as well. The thing is, it'd be a north east section, receiving only morning sun.

Would morning sun be enough for Dr Ruppel to thrive there? I'm not exactly how much sun that spot gets but plan on watching it today. I do know the roots would get plenty of shade. I know I have other choices of clematis that might do better, especially one that tolerates shade.

But was curious as to what you folks here think about it. Do you think Dr Ruppel would do well there? Or would a sunnier location be better. I just assumed with our hot Georgia summers (30 minutes south of Atlanta) during the hottest part of the day it'd be in a pretty cool shady spot. And on too of that, maybe the blooms wouldn't fade as bad. I don't know I'm new to all this. Any ideas?
