Are you looking for privacy or just decorative? Or both?

Since it's a dining room and there is traffic on the street, I'd use plantation shutters. They are beautiful, classic, and add value to your home.

I'm looking

Looking for decorative and design. I have three small children (6 dirty little hands) but I try to keep them out of the dining room as much as possible. There is also a big bay window in the living room where they play that will eventually need window treatment. Not sure to hold off and do both at same time. We have a center colonial.

I love Carolyn's idea with the shutters. I would also add the fabric panels on either side of the bay too. This softens the room and helps absorb sound during those wonderful dining room dinners.

You can do a combination of shutters and soft treatments. The shutters will provide the privacy needed and the soft treatments will "soften" the room and make it warm!
