We are preparing to do a complete gut on our kitchen/dining room area of our brick ranch. The previous owners had questionable taste and we are just getting around to fix the area 3 years in. Here is my dilemma, I am so unsure of how to lay this area out. I have debated putting my dining table in front of the bow window but don't know if that would look odd being in the front of the house and being able to see the dining table when you drive up. Moving the dining table from where it is now would allow me to give the kitchen a better shape and flow in my opinion. I'm limited with there being a big fireplace in the middle of the room that my husband will not even consider taking out. I have made a bargain with him that we will be getting rid of the wood burning insert and getting a gas insert instead so it will have somewhat better aesthetics. Does anyone have any experience with designing a kitchen/dining area around an odd space?
