Decorative rods hung as close as possible to the ceiling and extended so panels hang outside the window spaces, just covering the trim, may take up a lot of the visual space, so don't worry about it until they are up.

Would love to see a large built-in covering the whole space between the windows and some large art or mirror above.

If your TV is the focus of the room - which it looks like it is - then make more of it. As others have said, a nice built in/large TV unit (with a hutch) in a nice dark wood stain and higher curtains with panels that hang on either side of the windows.

Also a larger rug would cosy the space up. It needs to be large enough for the front feet of the sofas and chairs to fit on.

Just a couple of suggestions that could help you make this wall work better.

First, let's make the windows more of a feature: Hang a pair of panel draperies on each window, something like linen would be a great fabric, and you could do almost any color or pattern with your neutral walls. Make sure to hang your drapery rods a bit higher above your windows and 10-12 inches wider on each side of the window.

Invest in a big, beautiful cabinet for your TV and media equipment. Since that's the focal wall, it'd be lovely to use a large piece of furniture to balance that space and work as a way to hide the TV when it is not in use. Add an artwork or mirror above the cabinet on the wall, or group some tall vases or other items on the top of your cabinet.

Also, consider using a larger area rug under your seating group. Your room will instantly feel more open and cohesive.

Where you presently have the t.v. I would put in a shelving unit/entertainment unit that will take up the entire space between the two windows and go up as high as the two windows. Utilize the entire space between the two windows for entertainment, for shelving. Use a larger area rug in the space to arm up the space. I see you have red panels and white panels. Decide on the color or print to use for drapes and keep it consistant (the same) throughout the space.

I too like the idea of utilizing the entire space between the two windows but I would go one step further. My eye was drawn to that space when I first looked at your picture as it is a focal point of that room. I would make that entire area between the windows and up to the ceiling a different wall. It could be a stone veneer, beaded board, wood slat or raised panel perhaps. I have seen it done and it emphasizes the area and makes the room look big.
