I think a lot depends on what type of house you have. If it is the type of house that looks good with a metal roof then I can see doing it. My neighborhood is filled with sixties ranches and mid-century moderns. Some people have put standing seam metal on the ranch style homes and I really don't think it "fits" with that style of house or neighborhood. Of course this is just my opinion.

Yes thanks...it's a 50's ranch style and we were considering more of a corrugated. Standing seam is a great roof, but I agree it looks a bit out of character in certain neighborhoods. Thanks for your comment.

No matter what I would never rely on an exposed fastener roof on anything other than a utility building. Every exposed fastener (hole) is a potential leak which may not show itself for years but all the while causing damage to your house. Don't rely on little rubber gaskets to create a water tight seal on your roof. I personally like metal roofs and a simple grey roof will blend with almost anything but you would be better off sticking with asphalt composition vs corrugated with exposed fasteners.

This is Phoenix, AZ but point totally taken...still have elements to deal with.
