What price range do you consider medium to high end? There is a new high end I like to call insanity. Be careful with the latter if it's a glue down application and 3/4 inch thick. Some of those that run very long (10 feet and longer) with no shorter pieces require an almost absolute flat sub floor which can run into days of proper floor preparation. Problem I'm also seeing is these products don't have any flex and they banana. IE: don't lay flat and require a very slow process to keep them flat once they're laid.

Thanks for the information. I'm looking in the 6-10 dollar price range. I've been looking at Private Reserve by summit, Hallmark and pinnacle. Have you had any experience with any of them.

That's low middle of the road price range. Look at Virginia Vintage, Mohawk, and Bruce.

The Hallmark is beautiful in person. I like that it has a 4mm wear layer allowing for up to 3 re-finishes. I also like that the planks are long - about 6 feet. I'm looking at other brands such as Anderson Virginia Vintage but I really don't like the look of small plank lengths... and some brands that are hand scraped have a decidedly "fake" look to them. I'm still searching for the perfect product (for me).

Kahrs has some seriously beautiful engineered wood but it is very expensive. If I had a larger budget it would be a no brainer for me, I'd get the Kahrs. (One caveat...they are multi-ply).

Thanks! I Virginia Vintage didn't have the 7in wide planks and I agree some engineered floors do look fake. That's why I liked Pinnacle and Private Reserve they looked like real wood, but not much feedback on neither one. I will check out Kahrs flooring and compare.

Most engineered floors have a wear layer that is as thick as a few sheets of paper so you can never refinish it and replacement costs are much higher. The thickness of the wear layer on a Carlisle floor allows you to sand it multiple times (if needed). You also want to pay attention to length, with the Traditional Collection you pay a little more but you get 2-12' long boards, which is a stellar look (at least we think so).
