It looks like a Ficus, probably ginseng, but as you gave zero info on how it's been taken care of - watered how often, lighting conditions, temps, fertilizer, etc. etc. there's nothing to go on to comment about. Do make a firm scratch on the upper trunk - if it's still bright green underneath, it's alive, but beyond that I can't say.

If salvageable, it will need some sunlight, but not too much until growth gets going again. Based on that pot size, a finger inserted into the soil to the second knuckle that comes out dry indicates it's probably ready for watering. As you get more used to how it appears when wet and when dry, the chop stick/finger might no longer be necessary.
