If you went a shade lighter, and lay the floor in a brick rather than stacked pattern, you might be a bit happier with the result.

Have you checked into the wood-look tile as another option?

Just my own personal opinion- Your granite counter tops make a strong statement by themselves. I think your cabinets look stranded and need to grounded to the flooring color your pick out instead.

The lighter tile looks better, but I would try to find a better color match.

Since the new tile will butt up to real hardwood, try to find something that won't look like it's imitating the hardwood.
