Can you help me identfy this plant?

I live near Olympia, WA and have recently moved to a house my son bought last November. It was empty for about two years and we have all kinds of plants growing in our yard.
This one is quite prolific and has me stumped! It grows to about 12-18 inches and, so far there's no flowers or even flower buds on it.
I hope someone can help!
