This clivia started as a cutting from a friend. Last winter I followed the advice given on this forum to put in a dark place with little water. This spring I was surprised to see flower buds on a tall pale stem. Brought it into the cool basement under floursecent lights until buds started to open. Thanks for those who shared their advice to get a clivi a to bloom.

Clivias really would teach you patience most specially here in the North. They are very rewarding though and can bloom even in the middle of winter when everything in my garden is still sleeping.

Nice to see your blooming clivia, Maria. I also read the amarylis forum and enjoyed seeing your others. I am fairly newly aware of clivias and especially enjoyed seeing the different varieties. Someone gave me a large plant with many leaves last summer because they tired of waiting for blooms. Hope it blooms for me this spring.
