Need help with Kitchen cabinets.

We are going to build a house beginning of next year. We will be in North Carolina 8 miles from beach. My dilemma is color for kitchen cabinets. I do not care for white.

My safe side says go with a maple with light cherry stain. I am not opposed to a light creme or almond but afraid in a few years it may age the kitchen. Would like your opinion.
