can you post a photo? I am about to purchase white springs granite and I don't want it to change!

Hi shredder1952, if I knew how this stone was going to change, I never would have bought it. I purchased it from a very reputable company and paid a lot of money for all the slabs. What used to be a beautiful creamy white stone, is now very orange, brown and black. You might want to consider other options. JJGranger

Well, your post scared me, JJ, but I'm having a house built and the order is in - so I can't change it now. I did some research about granite rusting after I read your post and there appears to be a couple of things you can try to get the rust out of your granite. There are pastes you can make with a combination of ingredients - that you leave on the stains overnight, and then remove and re-apply. It might be worth your while to give them a try since you're so unhappy - as anyone would be! Google removing rust from granite, or similar phrases. I have to ask... was the granite exposed to very wet conditions? Was water or other moisture left standing on the granite surface? Did you ever have it sealed? Was it highly polished? I have dark granite now, and although I take pretty good care of it, I certainly don't "baby" it. I think I'm going to have to be extra vigilant with my White Springs! Not too happy about that.

Hi - we believe because we are on well water, the minerals in the water may have brought out the rust in the granite. From what I've been told, what happened is rare. So, if you don't have well water perhaps you'll be okay. White Springs is such a beautiful granite. It was sealed by the installer and the rust started coming out a year later.
