The suggestion is to always have at least 3 estimates. Compare and then decide.

Okay, I will take another 2 estimates. Also, how can I one know whether the installation is top notch. How do sprinkler system installer cut corners during installation or laying down of the pipes?

I'd check out yelp also...it will give an idea of where to get the other two estimates.

Some markers of a professional installation are: neat and secure wiring. boxes and heads at soil grade, not above or below. head to head coverage (as in one sprinkler will spray to, or very near the next sprinkler). Little or no overspray. there should be no water hitting fences, or buildings, and only a little along the edge of sidewalks and driveways where the lawn meets. A professional company will usually warranty their installation and (where applicable) winterization service. Pipe should be deep enough in the lawn areas as to allow for future aeration. Also research the major sprinkler suppliers online and see what their different product tiers of quality are called. Or when you get the quote look it up then along with the prices. Your cost should be 50/50 material/labor or even 40/60. Landscaping/irrigation is labor intensive. GL aloha

I inherited my irrigation system from the previous owners of my house who said it was "professionally" installed. The system was installed without swing arms on the sprinklers. Even worse the system was installed with Rainbird maxipaws impact sprinklers with the supply line going into one side of the sprinkler then a seperate pipe coming out of the other side of the sprinker onto the next one in line. This screwed up install is miserable to maintain. It is impossible to change a sprinkler head without cutting and patching the pvc lines. I am slowly installing swing arms as I replace the worn out impact heads with gear driven heads. I would insist on swing arms on any new install!

I wouldn't even have thought to mention swing assembly because they are so standard. They are necessary to fine tune your heads in an upright and level with the ground position. the 2 ports on a maxipaw are meant to give you a choice on inlet. There's usually one on the bottom and one on the side in case your pipe is not so deep (impacts tend to be pretty big, deep heads) I'm a little surprised someone would chain them along like that!
