I think you have too much stuff on the console but the lamps look okay I do agree that a different color shade might work well, maybe black.

Hi, I love your console table. The lamps are nice but you will spend more trying to find the right lamp shade to fit. I would return them so that you get a set that works without having to change them. How about ceramic gourd shaped lamps? They would be curvy and would look more substantial on a table that length. I would remove all the other accessories - too much going on. I would pick up a large dough bowl or shallow glass bowl (Pier 1 or Home Goods) and fill it with decorative rattan balls or some other material (Target or Home Goods has a good selection) and place it in the center. That would be a classic, clean look. More is less. Then you may want to add 3 or 5 items to the bottom that relate to eachother. Try varying the height and scale. I think the lamps are gorgeous. It looks like a distressed wood console - with that I would keep the shades light to play up the lighter tones in the wood and keep the look a little more airy and light-hearted. I agree, too many accessories on the console. I would move the candlesticks off since they are competing with the lamps.

true true true on getting lamps with shades that start out right. i bought a great lamp with a too-dark shade and i've yet to find the right sized but different color to go. finally i moved the whole thing to a new space where the lack of light from the lamp didnt matter and bought a new lamp for the original space.

I do not think those lamps are right. Your table is distressed and the lamps are glitzy. I would look for tall bronze or black metal or resin lamps that are less bulky. Also, I would put a different mirror above the table, something with a less modern looking frame. Your accessories are too varied in design. You have sleek bowl, chunky candle sticks, and Asian Fu dog. I would add a plant with a pottery type pot. And maybe large bowl, tray or basket to use for Gatling keys and mail. On the bottom self, I would center another large rectangular or round basket to hold gloves, hats, etc. I would ditch the sleek vase in the corner and add an umbrella stand or a chair.
