Hi- I would love to see some additional photos of the living room-different angles etc. to get a good idea of the space. From what I can see, I believe the traffic pattern needs to be cleared a bit, a more substantial piece of furniture (longer and visually heavier) needs to be under the TV, find a way to streamline and hide the cords from the TV as best as possible. Then, possibly arrange the sectional (is that right?) so the arm is not at the entrance. Definitely an area rug would add some texture and color and you could pull colors from the area rug to throw pillows. These can be inexpensive and changed out for different looks at a low cost. The two windows on either side of TV could be softened and covered by great fabric. You could either hang fabric panels on the entire wall or just on those windows and it will balance the wall. It appears you could use perhaps a silhouette blind or some sort of blind on the window at the end of the room to soften the light coming in. Adding baseboards would add a finished look to the space and selecting warm taupe colors for the walls would tie in with the flooring and offer a softer look and open the space more. Finally, perhaps a longer, more rectangle and larger cocktail table, even glass, would look great. I would love to see more photos of the living room and then we could look at the bedroom! Cheers!

here is the living room, i recently moved from this house and just starting to buy some furniture the 2tables underneath the tv and the coffee table is just temporary. the living this room is on the 2nd floor the door at the corner ia going to a small baranda. thank you for the ideas..

Hi, just a few thoughts . . . I would find a slim profile chest (Home Goods, maybe) to add some weight under the TV to help hide the cords and give you storage. I would get one that is wider than the length of the TV as well. A nice gray-blue paint color, baseboards, gray & white striped panels hung high (almost to ceiling height), a round wood coffee table to soften the room, an area rug to anchor your seating area, and painted built-ins in white for a crisp pop. Maybe a shade above the built-ins to help control the sunlight and a couple of white pillows on the sofa to brighten the area. You've got a lot of blinding light in that room, so window coverings look like a serious necessity. Then I would flip the sofa and the TV. Put the bank of bookcases on the gray wall and put the TV on or above them, along with some decor, and put the sofa where the TV is now. That way the TV won't be the first thing you see coming up the stairs.

Exactly what groveraxle said. Natural light is great, but you need something to diffuse all that. I'd also get a different paint color than the dark gray. You have a lot of dark gray in that room, and despite the blinding light, it feels heavy in there. I'd put a lighter color on the walls. I'd also get rid of the coffee table and replace it with an ottoman or a couple of poufs, either in cream or in bright colors. Will the table currently under the tv fit behind the door? You could use it as your entry table and style with a floral piece and key bowl. I'd paint it though. I don't really like how that wood color goes with the shade of your sofa.
