If you could pull any of the furniture away from the walls I think that would make the room a little more interesting. Also an area rug large enough to fit a little bit just under each couch, I would choose a round area rug since everything else is very square. Possibly some end tables or a unique coffee table (an old trunk/chest).

Perhaps add a orangy rust colored upholstered ottoman, with storage would be great with kids. It would pull the two sofas together with their pillows and give the room a nice focal point which I think it lacks.
