Thanks for the reminder for everyone. Why does it have to be on the weekends lately?

I've been watching all week, hoping something would change and the risk would drop. It hasn't. We'll all need to be extra watchful tomorrow. Maybe if we are lucky, heavy rainfall will be the worst thing that happens.

The "Enhanced" risk area on the Convective Outlook for tomorrow is huge and a large portion of OK is included in it. I'll link tomorrow's Convective Outlook below. It updates several times a day.

SPC Convective Outlook for Day 2

With all this severe weather and over-abundance of rain, I'm about ready to concede that whatever I have planted this year is all I'm going to get to plant. Any planting right now would be futile. I miss my garden therapy. Need it desperately.

I am chronically behind on the garden. But fortunately, my main plot sits on a gravel bed. With 24 hours without rain, I can get in there and work the soil. The rain is making it easier for me to cultivate.

Wow! I sure don't like the thought of wild weather.

This morning, I see that Dr. Forbes has increased the Tor Con value for western and central OK from a 5 to a 6, while NE OK remains at a 4.

On the Norman NWS office's webpage, the risks listed for today include baseball to softball-sized hail (having your garden hit by that would break a gardener's heart), strong wind gusts up to 70-80 mph and a medium risk of having tornadoes. The threat is strongest in the enhanced risk area shown on the map on the NWS Norman webpage, but even those in the moderate and marginal risk area have a chance (albeit a lower chance) of having threatening weather as well.

The prospect of heavy rainfall remains in the forecast with much of the state under a flash flood watch while a few areas remain under an ongoing flood warning from previous rainfall. In the ongoing flood areas, more rain will just worsen the flooding that already has occurred and is occurring.

About the best we can hope for is that this morning's ongoing rain storms in western OK will keep that part of the state cloudy and help keep the air cooler. It was hot and muggy here yesterday and I expect to find the same unpleasant conditions outdoors today.

Dr. Forbes has changed the Tor Con for central OK to a 7, so it seems like all the ingredients of severe weather are coming together in a way that is not good for residents of our state. I'm going to go start the Severe Weather Check-In Thread so everyone can check in after it all is over and let us know that they and their families, their homes and their gardens are okay (or not ok, as the case may be).
