I would do the semi sheer curtains hung on top & bottom little rods. You would not need to pull in the center curtain as shown. You just need to have the material taught.

For a front door, I like frost overlay film that is plain. You buy it at home depot, it is easy to cut out and scrim on, you get light and privacy without fussy things.
