Opinions Needed on Roof Shingle Selection

I have had these GAF samples for weeks. Narrowed it down to Mission Brown, Barkwood and maybe Weathered Wood. If you know of a different brand with a brown shingle without too much variation please suggest it. Thanks!

Maybe the Barkwood based on your photos since it appears best with the brick. Weathered Wood looks a bit gray in your example. I’d stay away from any browns that lean red-ish. You’re wise to want shingles that are a solid color or have little variegation. There’s already pattern in the brick, and adding more could be too busy.

I agree with chloebud as far as the Barkwood. They others seem too gray and cool for your brick.

The darkest colored bricks seem a nice blend with Barkwood. Mission Brown looks very ”frosty.” Again, based on your photos.

I was leaning toward Barkwood but was sure about the yellow specks. I really wanted a solid brown color but haven’t been able to find that.

The yellow doesn’t seem very prominent in your photo. Can the roofer give you any addresses where he’s used it so you can drive by? We just had our roof replaced so I understand what you’re going through. Our roof is gray tile so we stuck with that since we were so happy with it. Also, all the other samples we looked at (mostly Certainteed in our case) were too variegated and/or had kind of a zig-zag pattern, like this.

I would do the one in the middle in the top picture .

I chose Barkwood, too. That is, if color is true. It's hard to know online. And it's often a challenge to get the camera to read the right color. To me, the color of Barkewood flows beuatifully with your brick.

Chloebud your roof is beautiful. Yes, they gave me a couple of addresses. The first photo is barkwood and the second is mission brown. They look very different from the samples 🤦‍♀️

    “Chloebud your roof is beautiful.“

The photo I posted isn’t our roof. It’s actually a photo of what I didn’t want due to the pattern. We also have brick and were able to reuse our gray tile shingles. All of the underlayment was replaced. I don’t have a good photo right now but these gray tiles are almost identical to what we have.

It’s hard to tell for sure from your drive-by photos since both look like possibilities with your brick. They both look warm with MB looking lighter. Maybe consider the lighter/darker factor making sure neither leans red-ish.

Make sure your roofer buys a bundle of your last few choices and pays it out on YOUR roof. What it looks like on someone else's roof is immaterial in the big picture.
